What is Shared Lives?

Shared Lives is for adults who need support and want to live in a family home.

How will I be supported?

Ategi's Shared Lives carers will support you to develop your skills.

Who would my Shared Lives carer be?

We have a careful matching process to make sure you'll get along with your carer and have similar interests. 

How does it work?

You could spend your days with your Shared Lives carer, similar to a day centre but you'd be in their home or out and about.

How does it work?

You could stay with your Shared Lives carer for a short break, it could be a night or a few days, it's up to you. 

How does it work?

You could move in with your Shared Lives carer.

Is Shared Lives right for me?

If you're an adult over 18 with support needs who wants to spend time in a family environment, then Shared Lives could be for you.

Would I like Shared Lives?

If you prefer socialising in smaller groups, then you'll like Shared Lives.

How would I spend my time?

Your Shared Lives carer could help you learn new skills that make you more indpendent, like cooking.

Could my Shared Lives carer support me to work?

Your Shared Lives carer can support you to work, volunteer or even with your education. Whatever your goals your Shared Lives carer will support you.

How can I start being supported through Shared Lives?

Through the Local Authority

You can be referred through to our service via the Local Authority, then they can organise funding to support your care plan.

If you'd like to use our service, and you have the funds available, you can self-refer and we can start looking into your care plan straight away.
