Ategi celebrates national campaign highlighting Shared Lives
The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has launched its annual adult social care recruitment campaign, rebranded this year as 'Make Care Your Career'. This initiative aims to encourage more people to explore rewarding careers in adult social care, directing individuals to www.adultsocialcare.co.uk. This platform allows users to search for local job opportunities and access guidance on starting a career in the sector.
This year, Shared Lives roles are prominently featured on the website, helping to raise awareness of the role of a Shared Lives carer. As part of the campaign, a Shared Lives household is highlighted, and we are thrilled to announce that this year, it features Preety and Shawn from Ategi.
Ategi, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, works in partnership with local authorities across Wales and England, delivering high-quality care and support services. Preety and Shawn’s story is showcased in a video montage, social media graphics, and recruitment posters. Preety shared her thoughts on the experience, saying, "I feel very privileged to be able to share a positive message about Shared Lives. Hopefully, more people will come forward and have the willingness to help people who need the support."
Shared Lives carers from across the country were invited to take part in this campaign, and Ategi is proud that Preety and Shawn were chosen. Preety expressed her gratitude, stating, "The whole process was so amazing; the whole crew was amazing. They really calmed any nerves we had."
She added, "The smile on Shawn’s face when he saw the advert, I was pretty much speechless. It was such a good feeling to see him so happy. His experience was unforgettable, and he would do it all over again."
All Shared Lives schemes are encouraged to take advantage of the campaign's reach by using the variety of free resources available to support local recruitment efforts.
