Ategi hosts successful Trustee away aay at Bryngarw House

On Monday, February 3rd, our Trustees and Senior Leadership Team gathered at Bryngarw House in Bridgend for a pivotal away day focused on shaping Ategi’s future. The agenda centred on refining our business strategy, as well as discussions on trustee recruitment and succession planning.

The choice of Bryngarw House, a venue renowned for its blend of historical charm and modern amenities, provided an ideal setting for the day. It was an opportunity to support another charity with the same values as Ategi, and the team was warmly welcomed upon arrival, setting a positive tone for the day.

Ategi, with over 30 years of experience in supporting and empowering individuals, continues to pride itself on being a friendly charity with a reputation for offering excellent quality support. The away day underscored our commitment to strategic growth and effective governance, ensuring that we remain well-positioned to serve our communities during the years ahead.

A key highlight of the day was the opportunity for people we support and carers from our Supported Living, Shared Lives, and Support Circles services to attend and speak directly with trustees. Their insights and experiences provided invaluable perspectives, helping to shape the future of our services to better meet their needs. This direct engagement reinforced the importance of listening to the people at the heart of our work and ensuring that their voices inform our strategic direction.

The event also emphasised the importance of trustee recruitment and succession planning, recognising that strong leadership is crucial for our continued success. By focusing on these areas, we aim to maintain our high standards of support and adapt to the evolving needs of those we serve.

Bryngarw House and Country Park is the home of the B-LEAF and WOOD-B projects. B-LEAF and WOOD-B are work-based initiatives for adults with learning disabilities, offering hands-on learning opportunities in horticulture, grounds maintenance, and carpentry. The Trustees and the Senior Management Team had a guided tour of the projects and met some of the amazing people involved. The venue's facilities and hospitality contributed significantly to the productivity and success of the event.

As we look to the future, the insights and decisions from this away day will play a crucial role in guiding our path forward, ensuring that we continue to make a positive impact for the communities we support.

I really valued the opportunity to meet up and discuss business strategy in person. I also really enjoyed having the opportunity to meet with some of the people we support, and their carers.
