Ruth Northway
Trustee
Ruth Northway is Professor Emerita of Learning Disability Nursing at the University of South Wales. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to promoting the health and wellbeing of people with learning disabilities through research, education, and practice development.
Her work alongside people with learning disabilities spans more than four decades, a period during which significant changes have taken place in policy and the way support is delivered. Despite these changes, her commitment to advocating for person-centred, high-quality support has remained constant.
Ruth brings extensive experience of committee and governance work across both the health and third sectors. Her knowledge, expertise, and longstanding commitment to improving outcomes for people with learning disabilities continue to inform her work and contributions.
Outside of her professional and trustee responsibilities, Ruth enjoys running and volunteering to support others in their running journeys.
